Seven days is a very good length for Curaçao. The island is about 60 km long, so you can stay in one place the whole week and still see almost everything. This itinerary assumes a base in or near Willemstad (Pietermaai, Mambo Beach or Jan Thiel) and a rental car; book one early in high season via DiscoverCars. The days are deliberately not packed: it is hot, and the best moments here happen when you slow down.

Days 1–2: Willemstad and the wild west

Day 1: Willemstad's historic centre

Start in Punda with the pastel façades of the Handelskade, part of the UNESCO-listed historic centre and harbour. Walk across the floating Queen Emma Bridge to Otrobanda; when it swings open for a ship, a free ferry usually takes over. Back in Punda, visit the Mikve Israel-Emanuel synagogue with its sand floor, and the yellow courtyard of Fort Amsterdam.

Spend the late afternoon in Scharloo for street art and colonial mansions, then have dinner in Pietermaai, the island's liveliest restaurant street. If you like context with your sightseeing, a guided walk is a good first-day investment: compare options on GetYourGuide.

Day 2: Christoffel Park, Shete Boka and Westpunt

Set the alarm. Hiking up the Christoffelberg (372 m, the island's highest point) is best done at first light, before the heat; check current trail times at Christoffel Park before you go. Afterwards, drive to Shete Boka National Park to watch waves crash into the limestone inlets of the north coast.

Have lunch in Westpunt, then cool off at Playa Kenepa or snorkel with turtles at Playa Piskado. Stay for sunset at Playa Forti before the hour's drive back.

Days 3–5: Klein Curaçao, caves and the east

Day 3: Klein Curaçao by boat

The uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao, with its white beach, old lighthouse and shipwreck, is a full-day trip from Spanish Water, Caracasbaai or Jan Thiel. The crossing can be choppy, so take seasickness tablets if you need them. Read our Klein Curaçao guide and compare boats on GetYourGuide.

Day 4: Hato Caves, blue liqueur and Mambo Beach

A slower day after the boat. Take the guided tour through the limestone chambers of the Hato Caves near the airport, then visit Landhuis Chobolobo, where the famous Curaçao liqueur is made. Spend the afternoon at a beach club around Mambo Beach and stay for dinner.

Day 5: Tugboat, Spanish Water and Jan Thiel

Snorkel early at the Tugboat wreck in Caracasbaai, before the water gets busy. Then drive around Spanish Water, a large inland bay full of sailing boats, kayakers and paddleboarders. Finish at Jan Thiel beach with a cocktail and the sunset.

Days 6–7: Banda Abou and a free day

Day 6: Flamingos, history and quiet bays

Head west again, this time through the countryside of Banda Abou. Stop for the flamingos at the salt pans of Jan Kok (morning is best), then visit Museum Tula at Landhuis Knip, which tells the story of the 1795 slave revolt led by Tula. Spend the afternoon at Playa Lagun, Daaibooi or the full-service Cas Abao.

Day 7: Your choice

Keep the last day open. Options: a boat trip to the Blue Room sea cave, a cooking class or food tour, a dive, or simply your favourite beach again. Souvenir shopping is easiest in Punda and in the Rif Fort area of Otrobanda.

A note on distances: from Willemstad it is roughly 15–20 minutes to Jan Thiel or Caracasbaai, around 40 minutes to Cas Abao or Lagun and about an hour to Westpunt, traffic permitting. Rush hour around the city can add time, so leave early on the western days. Fill up the tank before you head into Banda Abou, as petrol stations thin out, and carry water and snacks in the car.

Tip: If you arrive late on day 1, swap days 1 and 4 so your first full day is an easy one near Willemstad.

Where to stay for this itinerary

Pietermaai and the rest of Willemstad suit travellers who want restaurants on the doorstep; Mambo Beach and Jan Thiel suit beach lovers and families. Compare places to stay on Booking.com, or read where to stay in Curaçao for an area-by-area breakdown.

Good to know: Don't forget to fill in the free Digital Immigration Card (DI card) on the official site before you fly. Drive on the right, and never leave anything visible in a parked car.

Frequently asked questions

Is 7 days enough for Curaçao?

Yes. A week lets you see Willemstad, the west coast, Klein Curaçao and several beaches without rushing. With 10 days you could add a dive course or a trip to Bonaire.

Do I need a car in Curaçao?

For this itinerary, yes. Buses exist but run infrequently, and the best beaches and parks are spread across the island.

What is the best day for Christoffel Park?

Any day, as long as you start early. Check the park's current opening and summit trail times before you go.
